Inspector and Brake Inspector Qualification

This course was created to help companies stay compliant and avoid costly USDOT/FMCSA citations related to unqualified inspectors. Through clear training and real-world guidance, we help businesses better understand inspection requirements, qualification standards, and the importance of maintaining safe, compliant operations.

4-Hour Course

The course cover’s the Inspector and Brake Inspector Qualification, approximately 4 hours.
  1. Core Knowledge
  • Understand the inspection standards outlined in 49 CFR Part 393 and Appendix A to Part 396. Covered in the training.
  • Be able to accurately identify defective components.  Covered in the training.
  • Know and have mastered the methods, procedures, tools, and equipment used during a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) inspection. This is based on the mechanic’s ability to use hand tools and to know the manufacturer requirements to make adjustments. There are several types of  (auto-matic brake slack adjusters) that the mechanic would need to understand. This part isn’t covered in the training due to the brake industry procedures constantly changing. 
 

The base cost for the course is $750.00.

Additional cost. 

Training materials. One copy of the management edition of the Federal Regulations, small copy of the Federal Motor Carrier Regulations for each technician, outline of the training course with CVSA training bulletins and one copy of the CVSA out-of-service criteria.

Shop copy of the regulations, $30.00. Shop Technician copy of the regulations, $10.00 each, training outline and bulletins, $20.00 each, CVSA 2026 out-of-service criteria, $60.00 each and Appendix A poster $30.00.
